Stepping Into Destiny

by Natalie Ledford

Stepping Into Destiny
Ashes to ashes
Dust the dust
The dreams that were given
All shriveled up

What once was a vision
Once was a dream
All died together
Or so it would seem

The chances not taken
The talents unused
I now feel forsaken
Alone and confused

My life in a shambles
My heart has been struck
No more to give
All out of luck

When I look back
At the pain and regret
Of chances not taken
I’ll never forget

There is more to be had!
My life is not over
He makes all things new
I’m never forsaken
His promises true
God still knows my name

It’s not about works
Or what could be
I’m never forsaken
His mercies are new every day

Yes seasons are over
I’ll never get back
But if I can breathe
There’s still more to come

What I learn
from mistakes I have made
Will help move me forward
To seize each new day

No more excuses
No more regrets
I choose to use what I have
To take chances, take steps
To never forget…

There is more to be had!
My life is not over
He makes all things new
I’m never forsaken
His promises true
God still knows my name

It’s not about me
Or what I can do
It’s about being faithful
About being true

In the moment I’m given
To use what I have
To use not to squander
The time that I have

I’m trading my sorrows
Trading the past
I choose a new future
I’m not turning back

I step into my purpose
Step up to the plate
I’m not giving up
It’s never too late

To use what I have
Though the moment seems bleak
Who knows what will come
When I choose to compete

Like Caleb of old
I roll up my sleeves
Face giants of fear
And step into my destiny
